Women's Basic Shotgun Class with Cherie Jones
An overnight, women only class to familiarize you with the basics of shotgun shooting. We'll teach you how to choose a shotgun that fits and works for your needs and how to get started shooting clay targets. Cherie Jones, NRA Certified Shotgun Instructor, will teach the class. This will be a high participation class with low pressure and lots of individual instruction.
12:00 noon We'll have lunch and get to know each other.
1:00 PM Class work in the lodge:
Safety and Range commands: How to operate and handle the gun safely and what you need to know to be safe on the range.
Choosing a shotgun: Picking the right gun is crucial. In this part of the class, we'll discuss what you need in a shotgun and how to choose the right gun for you.
Understanding ammunition. There are dozens of selections at the shell counter. How to pick shells that suit what you're shooting at.
Maintaining your gun. Taking care of your gun is an important part of shooting, a basic primer on how to keep your gun working and looking like new.
5:00 PM We'll go out on the range and cover the fundamentals of wingshooting. Everyone will fire the first shots at a simple, straightaway target to get you used to the gun and work out your shooting stance.
7:00 PM Have dinner, make a late dusk run around the farm to see the wildlife and relax around the lodge until bedtime

9:00 AM Introduction to 5 Stand and Wobble trap.
Shooting till 1:00 PM
You'll get an NRA Basic Shotgun Certificate and a certificate from Lewis Creek Shooting School.
Limited to 6 participants.
Bring your own gun, if you have one. If not, you can use one of our guns. You'll need a vest or shooting pouch, shooting glasses, ear protection,* and 6 boxes of low recoil shells**. The ideal gun for the class is a lightweight, 20 gauge with open chokes.
*If you don't have a vest or shooting pouch, shooting glasses, ear protection we can furnish them.
** We can furnish the shells with advance notice.
